Our Hybrid Laying Birds
Needwood Magpie AKA Medicis, Magpies, Black Sussex, Silvers, Silver Sussex
The Needwood Magpie hybrid is very similar in looks to its pure breed counterpart, the Silver Sussex. It has a predominantly black body and silver/white neck and chest feathering which gives it the ‘Magpie’ name. The amount of light colour feathers varies from one individual to another enabling you to have more individual-looking birds if you have more than one of them.
Temperament – Friendly. Inquisitive. An exceptionally good layer. Hardy.
Eggs – They are a layer of cream coloured eggs and can lay up to approximately 280 in their first year of lay.
