The Needwood Chestnut is a hybrid exclusively bred by Creag Mhor Poultry and is a very quiet-natured bird. Its plumage is stunning, extremely shiny and reflects all different colours like the effect of oil on water. It also has a lovely dark bronze neck collar. Very often with feathered legs, and closely related to the French Copper Black Marran.

Temperament – Friendly. Inquisitive. An exceptionally good layer. Hardy.

Eggs – They are a layer of dark brown eggs almost like conkers and can lay up to approximately 290 in their first year of lay.
