Hatching Eggs Service
Hatching eggs are available in season for most of the birds on the breeds page, please see the "Hatching Eggs" section on our "ForSale" page for the eggs on sale at the moment. Eggs are sold in batches of 6 and will be sent out either 1st class or Next Day Special Delivery (as requested). Each egg is wrapped individually and contained in a card egg box. Shredded paper is used to pack the eggs securley within the box, this style of packaging gives the eggs the best chance of maintaining their fertility. If you require at different amount of eggs rather than 6 please contact me to discuss or you can mix and match at a pro-rata cost.
100% fertility cannot be guaranteed but if, when the eggs are candled at 7 days, the eggs show less than 50% fertility we will replace the eggs. The infertile eggs need to be sent back to us for verification and we will then send out a fresh set of eggs. The customer must send the infertile eggs back at their cost and then the replacement eggs will be sent at our cost.
If you require details regarding incubation please ask and we will be able to send some through to you.
Hatching Service
We offer a hatching facility for those of you who do not wish to purchase your own incubator or haven't got access to a broody hen. This gives you the flexibility to choose the breed of chicken/duck that fits your needs and you can have your birds from a day old.
When you have purchased your eggs (please contact us for help) they will need to be delivered to us for incubation. We will contact you at candling stage to advise you of how many eggs are fertile and then a couple of days before hatching to advise when you can collect your birds.
We will take cockerels in, at no charge, if you cannot keep them. We cannot be held responsible for infertile eggs or death of chicks within our care, they will be kept to the best of our ability until you have collected them.
Hatching charge is £1.00 per egg.
Holiday Boarding
Want to go away for a few days or longer? No-one to look after your birds? We offer holiday boarding in a safe knowledgeable environment. The birds have their own separate pen and run that can house up to 8 birds. If you have ducks, we have a portable pond to ensure they have home from home. All sets of birds are nominated a colour on arrival in case we have any escapees from their pen, it is like Centre Parcs for chickens after all. The cost of the boarding is £3 per night per pen. The pen will take up to 8 birds and this can be a mix of chickens and ducks if needed. All feed and bedding is included in the price. To book your pen please ring or e-mail with the following details – Name, telephone number, number of hens, drop off and pick up date and time. Payment is taken when the birds are collected in case of flight delays etc....
Cockerel Re-homing
For those of you who have enjoyed the experience of hatching your own chicks we offer a cockerel re-homing service. Not everyone can keep a cockerel or maybe you have too many and they are starting to fight. Here at Pages Poultry we will take your cockerels in and try our best to get them re-homed for you. Please ring to let us know you are coming.
Chicken Health Advice
I am by no means a qualified vet but over the last 8 years I have experienced most of the things that can go wrong with poultry and would be happy to share my knowledge with you. I can advise you on treatments I would use on my chickens should they have the same symptoms but cannot be held responsible if anything should go wrong. For general welfare and illnesses please see our training course which I think you will find most helpful.
Gift Vouchers
Keeping poultry is now such a popular hobby, what better than some gift vouchers for a Birthday or Christmas. For a new starter they could book on the training courses, for more experienced keepers they could choose a new birds or simply stock up on products. A simple, but effective gift that many would enjoy.
